the Story Long ago, in a time well after the vast emptiness of renewal but before magic existed, a land sat lonesome and empty. It existed with rock and tree and mountain lush with all that nature could hold, having been born of eras past but fallen to silence in the years that came after. With no gods to watch over it, the land existed in this space of quiet repose and life moved onwards and through it with little guidance or grief, but such stillness wasn’t meant to last. Chaos came. Wild and untamed, this force of magic ran unfettered and unchecked through the cosmos and over time it began to shape space and time into an image of power. It filtered through every inch of the landscape as the earth fought to understand it and make room for this new power that had arrived, and as a result all of nature was consumed. Darkness shrouded all, but in that darkness would be a re-birth. Ether -- the all-power of the universe -- reacted against Chaos. When they clashed in the heavens it was a mighty sight: comets exploded and fell, while whole moons were birthed and destroyed in the span of a breath. As a result, Chaos and Ether combined only to split and consecrate itself into four divinities. These divinities, imbued by their new presence and power, began to take shape and one by one they ascended into the stars as the first Gods. Lycaon, Cronos, Lysandra and Tethys, they called themselves: beings of formidable grace and cosmic structure. The echo of their creation spread far and wide over the land below them. Chaos was sated and delivered itself back unto shadow, and the Ether filtered away as the First Pantheon gathered themselves together to celebrate their birth and the effects of the new magic on the land below them. They named it Lycaenos. Not all was well or perfect, however. The land struggled to coexist with the new magic that had absorbed itself into all nature and creature alike, leaving Lycaenos in a vulnerable state of imbalance. Together the Pantheon harnessed their wills and as a single force they descended to Lycaenos and contained the magic within themselves, each of them absorbing it into their very souls so that they might tame it. Earth, Water, Air and Fire found their resting places within the Pantheon and as the elements were broken into their respective pieces (Nature, Metal, Reality, Light, and Shadow), the land was able to breathe once more and life could resume. Bit by bit, Lycaenos adapted to the magic that swelled within it, and with the nurture and care that the Pantheon brought with it the land became a bustling Empire for the Gods to rule and cherish. Temples were erected, monuments risen, and the denizens of Lycaenos worshipped the Pantheon for the light and power they’d brought with them. Unable to resist bias, the Pantheon favored the Wolves of Lycaenos above all other creatures and it was to them they bestowed their tokens of love and power and -- more importantly -- the ability to wield Magic at their own whim. To allow for their most treasured children to harness and wield the new magic, the Gods erected a circular epitaph of stones called the Atlas Stones, and upon each of them they emblazoned a symbol indicative of each element. As a gift, they impregnated each stone with the power to bestow the magic of that element to the wolves who sought it, thus granting them the ability and prowess to wield it however they saw fit. As such, the wolves were welcomed into their cities to live among them, to stake their claims as they saw fit and to rule among themselves as Kings and Queens worthy of remembrance. Time passed, and unrest grew among the other creatures of Lyca; while not scorned, those who were not wolf felt forgotten and misplaced and gathered against the Gods and the Wolves together to fight for their equal rights to the magic. They were turned away time and time again, until as one they gathered forces and rose up as the Beast Clan, to fight against the Pantheon and the Wolves in a war that saw immeasurable loss. In the end, the Beast Clan was defeated and in that loss they were driven from Lycaenos to live out their lives in the Wilds, banished. It was at that time the Pantheon knew that it was their time to ascend and leave Lycaenos in the hands of the Wolves who’d taken it beneath their care. In a grand celebration, Lycaon, Cronos, Lysandra and Tethys imbued themselves once more with the cosmos and took to the stars above, with the devout promise that they would be watching, and would hear their prayers.
They retreated to Meteora: a famed place where the stars touched earth at the highest mountain top, and there they would remain to watch over the Wolves and their lives beneath. Lyceanos Timeline
Artifacts Artifacts are hidden pieces of Lycaenos' that can be discovered as the site progresses and various areas of the land (both known and unknown) are explored. Artifact events have no set timeline for occurrence, making them pivotal and exciting events that will involve the site and its members any time they take place. In general, Artifacts will be items related to the birth of Lycaenos and the fragments of the Pantheon, or perhaps even of Chaos or Ether: they could be hundreds of years old, may or may not possess some type of power that can affect one or more creatures, and likely has a rich backstory attached to it. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any Artifact discoveries! |
